Buses Will Have Priority on CBD Roads During World Youth Day

Sydney will host World Youth Day 2008 (WYD), the largest youth event in the world, from 15-20 July 2008.

The number of visitors to Sydney is expected to eclipse those that attended the Sydney 2000 Olympics, and will create additional demands on Sydney's public transport system.

Bus lanes throughout the CBD will help to manage the increased public transport services that will be operating during World Youth Day.

Information on bus lane hours of operation, traffic changes and bus movement changes are detailed in the maps below (links are to PDF files):

  • Park Street - George St to College St
  • George Street
    • Part 1 - Railway Square to Hay St
    • Part 2 - Hay St to Liverpool St
    • Part 3 - Liverpool St to King St
    • Part 4 - King St to Bridge St
  • Druitt Street - Sussex St to George St
  • Elizabeth Street

    • Part 2 - Foveaux St to Liverpool St

To implement these changes, special teams will be working at night in the weeks leading up to the start of World Youth Day 2008.
