Project information

Project background

The M4 Bridge pedestrian ramps on the Nepean River, Penrith provide a path for the community to cross from one side of the M4 Western Motorway Nepean River bridge to the other. In response to community concerns about using the current ramps and accessibility requirements, Transport for NSW is looking to improve the ramps for the community to use.

Benefits of the upgrade

The upgraded ramps will:

  • Meet current Australian standards, ‘Design for Access and Mobility’ (AS 1428).
  • Improve safety for all who walk, use wheelchairs and cycle along these pedestrian ramps.
  • More access and links connecting people and places.
Next steps

All comments received during consultation for the recommended design will be considered in decision making and development of the concept design. A report which summarises comments or questions received for the project, and our responses, will be published on the Transport website.

If you submit feedback you will receive notification of the report’s availability. We will keep community members and stakeholders informed of the progress throughout delivery of the project.
