Stakeholder and Community Consultation
The Ministry of Transport is committed to community involvement during bus planning. Regional Planning Forums are required under the Metropolitan Bus System Contracts for each operator. This means that stakeholders and the community can get involved in the planning of bus services in their area.
Regional Planning Forums occur both during and after the design of an integrated bus network for a region. They allow ongoing input from stakeholders and the community into the fine tuning of the bus network and provide an opportunity for feedback on the bus network and bus services in their area.
This is the first time community consultation has been made mandatory for bus operators. The consultation process will result in bus services that reflect the travel needs of our communities, and will increase communication between bus operators and the travelling public.
For further information about the Regional Planning Forums please contact your bus operator. Lists of bus operators can be accessed from this page.
