Fairer Bus Fares

In January 2005, the NSW Government introduced its Fairer Fares initiative, bringing the cost of bus trips on private bus services in metropolitan Sydney and Sydney Buses (the Government operator) into line. This means that passengers on the metropolitan Sydney bus network pay the same fare for trips of the same distance.

At the same time, the Government rolled out the Pensioner Excursion Ticket (PET) to private bus services. This means that pensioners and NSW Seniors Card holders can travel all day on bus, CityRail and Sydney Ferry services for just $2.50.
