Ex-members of the Defence Forces with Vision Impairment

Eligibility

Australian War Veterans who:

  • reside permanently in NSW,
  • are classified by the Department of Veterans Affairs as blinded due to war service, and
  • are in receipt of an Attendant's Allowance from the Department of Veteran Affairs;

are eligible for free travel on all CityRail, CountryLink, Sydney and Newcastle Ferries services and all government and privately operated local bus services.

Where the Pass/Medallion is endorsed for an attendant, the attendant is also entitled to free travel.

Proof of eligibility

Eligible persons must carry a Blinded Soldiers Gold Pass or the Blind Soldiers Gold Medallion.

Where to get a Pass/Medallion or replacement Pass/Medallion

The Blinded Soldiers Gold Pass/Medallion is issued by RailCorp's Passes and Concessions office.

Applications for the Blinded Soldiers Gold Pass/Medallion are made on the Ex-Member of the Defence Forces Pass Application form. This form is available from RailCorp's Passes and Concessions office, the Department of Veteran Affairs or regional RSL Sub Branch offices.

Period of validity

12 months to 31 October each year (or lifetime in the case of the Medallion).

Fees

There is no fee for the original card issue or replacement cards.
