Travel Concessions for Pensioner Concession Card Holders From Other States and Territories

Eligibility

Pensioners from States and Territories other than NSW or the ACT who are registered with Centrelink or the Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA) and in receipt of a Commonwealth benefit that entitles them to a Pensioner Concession Card (PCC) are entitled to a half fare concession on all rail, bus and ferry services.

They are also now able to access the $2.50 Pensioner Excursion Ticket on CityRail, Sydney and Newcastle Ferries services and all government and privately operated bus services in the metropolitan and outer metropolitan areas (see Recent Changes in NSW Public Transport Concessions for more information).

Eligible beneficiaries include:

  • Aged Pensioners,
  • Persons in receipt of the Mature Age Allowance,
  • Disability Support Pensioners,
  • Persons receiving the Parenting Payment (single),
  • Persons receiving the Carer Payment,
  • Persons over 60 on long term payments including Newstart Allowance, Sickness Allowance, Widow Allowance, Partner Allowance, Parenting Payment or Special Benefit.

Check with Centrelink or the DVA for more information about the categories of beneficiary who are entitled to be issued with a PCC.

Proof of eligibility

Eligible pensioners must carry their Pensioner Concession Card to prove their eligibility for a public transport concession.

Where to get a card/replacement card

Pensioner Concession Cards are issued by Centrelink or the DVA.

No fees apply for the issue of the PCC (subject to Centrelink/DVA policy).

Period of validity

The PCC is valid for a period of 12 months.
