Travel Concessions for NSW War Widow/ers

Eligibility

Australian citizens or permanent residents, living in NSW, who:

  • are widows or widowers of Australian Defence Force personnel who died in active service;
  • receive a War Widow/ers Pension from the Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA); and
  • do not hold a Pensioner Concession Card.

* A concession station access fee is payable.

** The entitlement is to a concession fare on these services.

*** Up to 4 single trips annually on CountryLink or Great Southern Railways services, for journeys wholly within NSW only. Half fare concession applies for the remainder of the journey. Note: A booking fee applies on CountryLink services.

**** The Excursion ticket is available on private ferry services for registered local residents who use the ferry as their entry point to the metropolitan/outer-metropolitan public transport network.

Proof of eligibility

Eligible beneficiaries must have a NSW War Widow/ers Concession Card to prove their eligibility for a public transport concession.

Where to get a card/replacement card

The NSW War Widow/ers Concession Card is issued by the Commonwealth Department of Veteran's Affairs.

Period of validity

12 months to 31 December each year.

Not applicable (subject to DVA policy).
