Travel Concessions for Apprentices and Trainees
Eligibility
Apprentices and trainees registered with the NSW Department of Education and Training under the Australian Indentured Apprentice or Australian Traineeship System Scheme are now entitled to a half fare concession for travel between home, their workplace and their college on:
- On all government and private bus service in metropolitan Sydney and the outer metropolitan areas; as well as
- CityRail; and
- Sydney and Newcastle Ferries services.

Note: Concession entitlements are not available on special or premium services, charter, special event or tourism services.
The Half Fare Concession applies to single/return tickets only, not multi-ride or periodical products.
* Available for use between the holder's home, workplace and college only.
** A concession Station Access Fee is payable.
Proof of eligibility
Eligible beneficiaries must have the Indentured Apprentice / Trainee NSW Transport Concession Card.

Where to get a card/replacement card
The Indentured Apprentice / Trainee NSW Transport Concession Card is issued by RailCorp's Passes and Concessions office.
Applications must be made on the VT77 application form obtained from the Department of Education and Training (DET) on 132 811 or at http://apprenticeship.det.nsw.edu.au/html/advins/forms.htm.
The completed application form must be signed by the applicant and endorsed by the applicant's manager, and a photo provided.
Replacement cards are also issued by RailCorp's Passes and Concessions office using the DET application form.
Period of validity
The card is valid for the life of the Traineeship or Apprenticeship to a maximum of three years).
Fees
No fees apply for the original card issue.
As at 1 January 2008, the fee for a replacement card is $21.00 (including GST). This is subject to change in line with IPART fare determinations.
