GIPA Act - proactively released information
Background
Section 7 of the Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009
(the GIPA Act) authorises NSW Government agencies to release information proactively, unless there is an overriding public interest against disclosure.
Transport for NSW has undertaken a review of the documents and information that it holds. As a result of this review, the agency will identify documents and information, which it plans to release proactively. That information will be released on an ongoing basis with the approval of our Director General, as required under the GIPA Act.
Review of proactive release program
Section 7(3) of the GIPA Act requires agencies to review their program for proactively releasing information every 12 months. Agencies have an obligation to identify information that it should, in the public interest, make available. Transport for NSW has recently reviewed its proactive release of information program, and will continue to do so, at a minimum on each anniversary of the commencement of the GIPA Act from 1 July 2010.
How to access information
In many cases, information outlined in Transport for NSW's proactive release program will be available in this section.
If the information is not available here, members of the public may make a request to obtain the document in question and Transport for NSW will email the document on request. Nominal fees may apply to requests for hard copy documents.
Requests should be addressed to the Principal Manager, Information by email gipa@transport.nsw.gov.au, in writing to Transport for NSW, PO Box K659, Haymarket NSW 1240, or by calling (02) 8202 3768.
