Motorcycle drivers' responsibilities
Authorised motorcycle drivers must comply with all relevant requirements of the Passenger Transport Regulation 2007. Some of these requirements are:
Motorcycle drivers must not:
- Tout or solicit for passengers or for a hiring
- Eat or drink on the motorcycle when hired or available for hire
- Carry any person on a motorcycle whom you have reason to believe is not a tourist
- Carry any person on a motor bicycle (LC vehicle) except on a sealed road
- Falsely advertise that they are authorised motorcycle drivers.
Motorcycle drivers must:
- Ensure their motorcycle is clean and tidy
- Be clean and tidy, and be properly attired and wear enclosed shoes
- Behave with civility and propriety towards intending passengers, passengers, other tourist vehicle drivers and authorised officers
- Ensure a pillion passenger wears proper shoes and clothing, is instructed on how to wear a helmet and use footrests and how to communicate with you whilst on the tour
- Ensure that the headlight is on throughout the tour
- Give lost property to its owner, your operator or a police station
- Hand over driver licence and driver authority card to authorised officer when requested to do so.
