Travel concessions for NSW World War 1 veterans
Eligibility
WW1 veterans, recipients of the Victoria Cross or George Cross awards and their spouse, or widow or widower, who:
- Reside in NSW
- Are registered with the Department of Veteran Affairs (DVA).
Concession fares
NSW World War 1 Veterans Free Pass holder are entitled to free travel. Where the pass is endorsed for an attendant, the attendant is also entitled to free travel when assisting the pass holder.
This card is not recognised interstate.

Free - Means this category of beneficiary is entitled to free travel. The user must have a valid entitlement card (where relevant) and produce that card on request.
General - Concession entitlements are not available on special or premium services, charter services, special event services or tourism services.
Assistance animals - Assistance animals (with or without an Assistance Animal pass) travel free.
Carers and Attendants - Where Pass is marked "Plus attendant", an attendant can also travel for free. Similarly, Companion Card holders are entitled to free transport.

The fast ferry services operating between Manly and Circular Quay, light rail and monorail services are privately owned and operated services. Any concession benefits or discounted tickets are provided by the operators of these services at their discretion. Check with the operator before travelling. From 1 July 2011 the Pensioner Excursion Ticket, MyMulti tickets and Family Funday Sunday tickets have been available for use on light rail, but must be purchased before boarding. . - Most contracted private ferry services recognise the standard concession entitlements but may have different arrangements, based on their existing contractual obligations. Check with the operator before travelling.
Proof of eligibility
The holder of a NSW World War 1 Veterans Free Pass must produced it on entry to a service, and at the request of a transport officer to confirm the holder’s entitlement to free travel, and any entitlement for an attendant.

Where to apply
The NSW World War 1 Veterans Free Pass is issued by the RailCorp Passes and Concessions office.
Download the Ex-Member of the Defence Forces Pass application form or obtain one from the RailCorp's Passes and Concessions office, the Department of Veteran Affairs or a regional RSL Sub Branch office.
How long the pass can be used
The Pass is valid for 3 years.
Fees
There is no fee for the original card or replacement card.
