Travel concessions for Seniors Card holders
Eligibility
Concession fares are available to holders of NSW and interstate Seniors Card holders. NSW Seniors cards are issued to persons who:
- Reside permanently in NSW and are Australian citizens or who have permanent resident status
- Are aged 60 years or over
- Who are not substantially employed (defined as working 20 hours a week or less).
NSW Seniors can use their NSW card when travelling interstate to obtain the entitlement available to card holders who are residents of those states and territories. Some restrictions may apply, and card holders are advised to check with the relevant state or territory transport agency prior to travelling. Concession fares
Seniors can use their Seniors Card to access one of the following types of concession fare products in NSW:
- Half fare concessions on rail (CityRail and long distance rail and rail/coach services), government and private bus services and government ferry services

Excursion fares including:

The $2.50 Pensioner Excursion Ticket (PET) on CityRail services, on metropolitan and outer metropolitan local bus services and on government ferry services. It is also available on private regulated ferry services but restricted to local residents reliant on the ferry as their point of entry to the metropolitan and outer metropolitan public transport network, and requires prior registration with the local operator. From 1 July 2011 the PET has been available for use on light rail services. The PET is not sold on light rail and must be purchased before boarding. See the Buying Tickets page

The $2.50 Country Pensioner Excursion fare on CountryLink services provided outside of the CityRail network; andThe $2.50 Regional Excursion Daily (RED) ticket in rural and regional bus contract areas, on regulated local bus services or the local bus service network (excluding dedicated school services).

Concession fares under MyZone
- Under MyZone concession entitlements remain the same or similar to previous arrangements, although some ticket products or prices may have changed. Entitlements and ticket products will remain the same on services not covered by the MyZone structure, such as private ferries, monorail and CountryLink services.
- Half fare concessions are available for eligible Seniors on all MyZone ticket products, (except monthly, quarterly and yearly MyMulti products and the off peak return ticket on rail).

A Yes indicates that a half fare concession is available for this product or that this category of beneficiary is entitled to an excursion ticket at the applicable flat, daily rate.
A No indicates that this product is not available to this category of beneficiary at the concession rate.
General - Concession entitlements are not available on special or premium services, charter services, special event services or tourism services.
- 1.The CountryLink Pensioner Excursion (CPE) ticket is only available to NSW, ACT, and VIC Seniors card holders.

2.Not covered under MyZone, with a few exceptions (see MyZone
). Private bus operators may offer other ticket products at discounted or concession rates. Check with the operator before travelling. - 3.The fast ferry services operating between Manly and Circular Quay, light rail and monorail services are privately owned and operated services. Any concession benefits or discounted tickets are provided by the operators of these services at their discretion. Check with the operator before travelling. However, as indicated from 1 July 2011 MyMulti, Family Funday Sunday and PET have been available for use on light rail.
- 4.Most contracted private ferry services recognise the standard concession entitlements but may have different arrangements, based on their existing contractual obligations. Check with the operator before travelling. Private ferry operators may also offer other ticket products at discounted or concession rates. For more information, contact the operator.
- 5.PETs on private ferries are only available to eligible pensioners and seniors who buy the ticket from the operator as their first leg of a trip across the broader public transport network.
Proof of eligibility
NSW and interstate Seniors are required to show their Seniors Card (see samples below) when purchasing tickets and travelling on concession fares, and when requested by a transport officer to verify their entitlement to a concession.
Concessions are NOT available to holders of other types of seniors cards, such as the National Seniors Card, the Queensland Seniors Business Discount Card, or the Commonwealth Seniors Health Care Card.

Where to apply
NSW Seniors Card Cards are issued by the NSW Seniors Card Scheme.
NSW Application forms can be downloaded from the Seniors Card website
or obtained from local council offices, local MP's offices, or ANZ bank branches. Post completed applications to Seniors Card Scheme, Security Mailing Services, Locked Mail Bag No. 16, Kingsgrove NSW 2208.
To obtain a replacement NSW card, submit an application to the Seniors Card Scheme (call 1300 364 758). Interstate card holders must apply to their home state or territory for both their initial card and any replacement.
How long the card can be used
The NSW Seniors Card has no expiry date.
