Peats Ferry Bridge Maintenance

Project overview

Sydney Trains are carrying out maintenance on Peats Ferry Bridge on the Pacific Highway over the Hawkesbury River, on behalf of Transport for NSW. The Pacific Motorway (M1) is not affected by these works.

Key benefits

As part of the bridge maintenance program, Sydney Trains will be undertaking the following work to maintain Peats Ferry Bridge:

• Abrasive blasting and painting
• Steel and concrete repairs
• De-vegetation
• Upgrade of traffic barriers
• Replacement of pedestrian barriers.

The project is currently in construction and expected to be completed in mid-2025*.

Project Status

Maintenance work on Peats Ferry Bridge is underway. We will be working at Peats Ferry Bridge from 9 October 2023 to mid-2025.

Work will take place from 7am to 6pm, Monday to Friday and 8am to 1pm on Saturdays. Intermittent night works may be required; however, we will notify you prior to these works taking place. 

Equipment may be delivered to the worksite outside the above times. Some deliveries may occur at night due to daytime travel restrictions on large vehicles. Finishing works may take place following this period, including the removal of equipment.

Maritime traffic impacts

There will be temporary maritime traffic changes, including speed reductions, and relocation of the main navigational channel. The navigable channel (Span 2 of M1 bridge) will be relocated to Span 5 at various times throughout the works.

During these works, all maritime traffic will be redirected to nearby channels on the Hawkesbury River, under the Peats Ferry Bridge. Please refer to the marine notice below for more information.
