Sitting Fees for Community Members on Committees
Consultation with the community is an important part of planning and reviewing local transport services and needs. This consultation can occur in a variety of ways including meetings, surveys and committees.
Occasionally requests are made from members of the community for a sitting fee to attend meetings and participate on committees. Payment for committee members is addressed in the Guidelines for NSW Board and Committee Members: Appointments and Remuneration (2004) (PDF copy of the guidelines on the Department of Premier and Cabinet website).
These guidelines do not apply to local boards, local trusts or boards, and local advisory committees, for example, those organised or supported by the Regional Transport Coordinators.
The Ministry of Transport does not support the payment of sitting fees for committee members on local committees that are organised or supported by its staff.
