NSW Level Crossings

This site provides information on the management of level crossings in NSW.
A level crossing is the intersection of a road and/or pedestrian walkway and a railway line at the same grade.
There are more than 3000 level crossings in NSW; over 1400 are public road crossings with the remainder on private roads.
Individual rail and road agencies are responsible for the management of safety of the various components of their level crossing infrastructure.
While infrastructure improvements will continue to reduce risk at level crossings, drivers, riders and pedestrians are encouraged to be careful, aware and obey the road rules each time they encounter a level crossing.
