Improvement work set to start on Dora Street at Morisset

Lake Macquarie motorists will soon experience smoother and safer journeys with road improvement work starting on Dora Street at Morisset.
Transport for NSW Regional Director North Anna Zycki said the NSW Government is providing $2 million to fund essential maintenance work on Dora Street between Freemans Drive and east of Stockton Street to improve the road surface.
“This is a huge win for the 8500 motorists who use this stretch of road every day,” Ms Zycki said.
“Asphalt is one of the quietest, smoothest and safest road surfaces, so the treatment to this busy piece of road is a win all round.”
Ms Zycki said work will include milling, profiling and asphalting about 800 metres of the road.
“Transport for NSW recently sought feedback on the proposed work schedule, with 19 submissions received,” Ms Zycki said.
“Of those 19 submissions, 12 were in support for work in the shorter duration of three weeks, seven submissions had no preference, and none was in favour of work taking 10 weeks.
“Lake Macquarie City Council will carry out the work on behalf of Transport for NSW, which includes resurfacing the road.
“We thank the community and motorists for their patience while we carry out this important work.”
Starting Sunday 24 March, work will be carried out from 7pm to 5am Sunday to Thursday nights.
It is expected to be complete in three weeks, weather permitting. No work will be carried out on public holidays.
Dora Street will be reduced to one lane during work hours with alternating traffic conditions in place.
