New school zone for Jerrabomberra High School

A new school zone will come into effect this year as the new Jerrabomberra High School opens its doors.

A Transport for NSW spokesperson said 40 km/h school zones are provided on roads with an active, direct access point from the school to improve pedestrian safety.

“School zones help protect children on their way to and from school at times and places where they are often present in high numbers,” the spokesperson said.

“The lower speed limit will reduce the risk and potential severity of a crash in these areas.

“The new school zone will come into effect for Jerrabomberra High School on the first gazetted school day for term one, which is Tuesday 30 January 2024.”

The school zone has been installed on roads in front of and surrounding the school including Environa Drive, Lexcen Avenue, Bayside Court, Palm Court and Waterview Gardens.

Electronic signage will be put in place to help create awareness of the new school zone before the school opens for term one.

Motorists are reminded to drive to the signposted speed limit at all times for the safety of all road users.
