Rail Repair Plan trackwork targets Airport Line this weekend

Published

Passengers travelling to the airport from Western Sydney this weekend are urged to plan ahead as essential Rail Repair Plan trackwork takes place.

Trackwork will affect the T8 Airport & South Line as well as the T2 Inner West & Leppington Line and T5 Cumberland Line.

Sydney Trains will have about 770 staff undertaking a significant amount of work to remove 51 high-priority defects and repair about 18km of track.

Passengers are advised to check their apps and transportnsw.info for live information on service changes to their line.

On the T8 Airport & South Line, on Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 September, buses will replace trains between Glenfield, Sydenham and Central.

Buses will also replace trains to the airport stations of Green Square, Mascot, Domestic Airport and International Airport as AirportLink will be undertaking track maintenance over this weekend on the privately maintained Airport Rail line.

Trains will run to a changed timetable between Macarthur and the City via Granville, Campbelltown and Central via Regents Park, and Sydenham and Central.

In the lead up to this trackwork, from 11:50pm on Friday to 2am on Saturday, buses will also replace trains between Glenfield and Revesby. Trains run between Macarthur and Glenfield and between Revesby and the City via the airport.

Buses will also replace trains between Leppington and Glenfield on the T2 Inner West & Leppington and T5 Cumberland Lines all weekend.

On the T2, trains will run to a changed timetable between Macarthur, Glenfield and the City via Granville, and between Campbelltown, Glenfield and Central via Regents Park.

On the T5, trains will run to the normal timetable between Liverpool and Schofields but early morning and late-night trains will not run.

In addition, for about 90 minutes early on Sunday, from 12.10am to 1.30am, buses will replace trains from Lidcombe to Strathfield in that direction only on the T1 Western Line and T2 Leppington Line. Passengers should check transportnsw.info if they are planning to travel at this time.

For those travelling around the city this weekend, please note City Circle trains will travel in one direction only from Central and to a changed timetable and stopping pattern. Customers may need to change trains to continue their journey. The light rail will be running between Circular Quay and Central.

Sydney Trains is working hard to minimise the impact of the essential work of the Rail Repair Plan as much as possible. Passengers are encouraged to allow for extra travel time and plan ahead by visiting transportnsw.info or using trip planning apps on their mobile devices.
