Trackwork Alert: Weekend rail repairs ahead for the Airport and Western lines

Published

Passengers are urged to plan ahead this weekend, 9-10 December, as essential Rail Repair Plan trackwork (PDF, 86.95 KB) focuses on the west and Airport Line, to increase efficiency and resilience on the network.

Passengers looking to start their holiday travel early to the airport this weekend are advised to allow plenty of extra travel time and plan their trip as buses will replace trains on the T8 between Sydenham and Central via the Airport.

Work will involve signal and track maintenance, and essential upgrades to the Mascot substation to help increase future capacity on the line.

Express rail replacement buses will run between Central and the International Airport, and Central and the Domestic Airport in both directions throughout the weekend. Airport passengers can also catch replacement buses to the Airport stations from Sydenham, Wolli Creek, Mascot, and Green Square.

Buses will also replace trains from 10.30pm Friday to 9.30am Saturday on the T1 and T5 between Richmond and Schofields.

Sydney Trains will have around 653 workers undertaking a significant amount of work to remove defects on the network.

Some trains may run to changed stopping pattern and timetable. Passengers may need to change trains and are encouraged to allow extra travel time and plan ahead by visiting transportnsw.info or using trip planning apps.

Sydney Trains thanks our passengers for their patience as we work to build a more resilient and reliable network.
