Transdev John Holland starts as bus operator for Sydney’s east, south-east and CBD

The eight-year contract will deliver extra, more frequent regular services in the region and save NSW taxpayers about $200 million.

Transport for NSW Chief Operations Officer Howard Collins said Transdev John Holland will be responsible for delivering more than 33,000 weekly services.

“We are fortunate to have the combined expertise and efficiency of both companies to operate some of Sydney’s most popular bus routes,” Mr Collins said.

“Customers will continue to benefit from changes made in December, including 11 All-Day Frequent Network (ADFN) bus routes operating every 10 minutes or better during the day, seven days a week.

“Transdev John Holland will also improve onboard safety for customers and drivers, with enhanced CCTV installed across the fleet.

“Bus services will operate from three depots in Greater Sydney – Randwick, Waverley and Port Botany.”

The NSW Government will deliver 136 new zero-emission buses to replace diesel buses as they are retired and invest in charging infrastructure at the region’s three bus depots to support the roll-out.

All State Transit bus drivers and maintenance staff have been offered a two-year job guarantee under the new operator.

Transport for NSW will also work closely with Transdev John Holland on any improvements that can be made to the network in the coming years.

The NSW Government continues to regulate all routes, timetables and fares, as well as retain ownership and control of the existing depots and buses.

Transdev is a global, multi-modal passenger transport operator which already provides bus services in Sydney’s south, south-west and on the north shore.
