Weekend Rail Repair Plan Trackwork

Published

Passengers are urged to plan ahead this weekend, 24-25 February, as essential Rail Repair Plan trackwork continues to build a more resilient and reliable network.

On the Central Coast & Newcastle Line, from 1.20pm Friday 23 February, continuing through the weekend, and then all day on Monday 26 February, buses will replace trains between Newcastle Interchange and Wyong.

For those travelling into Sydney for the Taylor Swift concerts, Transport for NSW is prepared to get Swifties there in comfort as additional rail replacement coaches will run from Newcastle Interchange to Wyong where fans can connect with limited stop trains to Sydney and with express trains to Olympic Park.

12 coaches will operate between Wyong and Newcastle exchange on an ‘as directed’ timetable, providing a connection to rail services. More information can be found here.

Some Hunter Line passengers travelling to Central Coast & Newcastle Line stations will need to catch an earlier service to ensure they arrive at their destination on time.

On Saturday and Sunday, the South Coast Line will also see buses replace trains between Bomaderry, Kiama and Wollongong across the weekend.

Taylor Swift fans travelling from the South Coast on Saturday and Sunday will need to catch replacement coaches between Kiama and Bomaderry, and Kiama and Wollongong, to connect with trains from Wollongong to Sydney.

Trains will continue to run between Port Kembla, Wollongong and Central or Bondi Junction. More information can be found here.

Sydney Trains will have around 828 workers undertaking a significant amount of work to remove 5 high-priority defects over this period.

Some trains may run to changed stopping pattern and timetable. Passengers may need to change trains and are encouraged to allow extra travel time and plan ahead by visiting transportnsw.info or using trip planning apps.

Sydney Trains thanks our passengers for their patience as we work to build a more resilient and reliable network.
