Passengers are urged to plan ahead this weekend, 20-21 April, as essential Rail Repair Plan trackwork (PDF, 82.59 KB)continues to build a more resilient and reliable network.

On Saturday and Sunday, buses will replace trains between Macarthur, Glenfield and Fairfield on the T2 Leppington and the T8 Airport & South Lines.

On the T3 Bankstown Line throughout the weekend, buses replace trains between Cabramatta, Lidcombe and Sydenham.

On the T5 Cumberland Line across the weekend, buses will replace trains between Glenfield and Fairfield.

From Friday 9.40pm the T2 Inner West Line trains will not run. T1 Western and T9 Northern Line trains will make extra stops at some stations between Homebush and Central.

Sydney Trains will have around 814 workers undertaking a significant amount of work over this period, including rerailing, rail grinding, bridge refurbishment, station access upgrades and the removal of 41 high-priority defects.

Some trains may run to changed stopping pattern and timetable. Passengers may need to change trains and are encouraged to allow extra travel time and plan ahead by visiting transportnsw.info or using trip planning apps.

Light Rail

On Saturday, buses will replace light rail between Lilyfield and Dulwich Hill until 5pm while work is carried out to replace a high voltage pole damaged during extreme weather earlier this month.  

Intercity

Track repairs are continuing ahead of the weekend on the South Coast Line following the extreme weather event earlier this month. Buses will replace trains between Waterfall and Thirroul then continue to Sutherland this Friday from 8am to 3pm. This flood recovery and signal testing work will help us restore regular timetabled services on the South Coast Line as quickly as possible.

On Friday between 8pm and 2am, buses will replace trains on the Southern Highlands Line from Moss Vale to Campbelltown.

Throughout Saturday and Sunday, buses will also replace trains between Goulburn, Moss Vale and Glenfield.
