Work to begin on major Canterbury Road upgrade project

Published

Major work is set to begin to improve two important roads in Sydney’s south-west.

Road resurfacing will be carried out on four sections of Canterbury Road between Chapel Road at Bankstown and Cooks River at Canterbury while two sections of Old Canterbury Road will be upgraded between Toothill Street and Parramatta Road at Lewisham.

Work will include raising and replacing concrete slabs, asphalt resurfacing and the sealing of cracked joints in the road.

This work will be carried out across 8pm to 5am shifts from Sunday 3 March until late October, weather permitting, with no work taking place on Saturdays or public holidays.

During this work, some parking may be impacted for short periods and residents will be notified of upcoming changes in advance.

Residents who park regularly along these roads should send an email to info.harbour@ConnectSydney.com.au with the subject heading “Subscribe me to Canterbury Road e-news” to be kept up to date.

Temporary lane closures and traffic control will be in place for the safety of workers and road users.

Any temporary closures to entire sections of the road will be communicated to residents well in advance of work, with access to properties maintained as much as possible.

Access to bus stops may also be impacted at times.

Further detail will be provided to residents as work progresses at each location.

Transport for NSW thanks the community for its patience while this work is completed.
