Outcomes of Public Forum for Bus Regions 10 and 13

A public forum for bus regions 10 and 13 was held on 25 August 2008.

All of the feedback from the forum has been analysed by the Ministry of Transport and Veolia. In response to the feedback, changes will be made to the network.

We heard that the main issues were walking distances to bus stops, location of bus stops, the frequency of services, and the coverage of buses in the area. The following changes will be made:

  • Bus services in Huntingdale Avenue, Lansvale will be restored on bus route 904 on southbound trips from Fairfield to Liverpool
  • Services to the Ashcroft Avenue area in Georges Hall during weekday off-peak periods will be restored and an increase in frequency on bus route 911 from 60 mins to 30 mins between Georges Hall and Bankstown during weekday off-peak periods
  • Bus route 948 will be relocated from Davies Road to Chamberlain Road Padstow Heights
  • Bus route 927 will be modified to operate between One Tree Point and Padstow only, during weekday off-peak hours and on Saturdays, with connections to and from Bankstown available at Padstow
  • Additional services will be introduced on bus route S1 shopper hopper during the AM and PM school peaks
  • Services along Priam Street Chester Hill will be restored by extending the existing route S2 shopper hopper service to and from Chester Hill station
  • Services along Mitchell Street in Fairfield East will be restored during weekday off-peak periods on route S4, which will be extended from Villawood to Fairfield, as well as some additional services on bus route S4 between Villawood and Chester Hill
  • Services between Padstow and Revesby will be restored, by extending route 926 to Padstow (via Hydrae Street) during weekday off peak hours

These changes and additional services will be introduced with the opening of the upgraded Bankstown Interchange, which will take place on Monday, 8 December 2008.

The bus network caters for all bus users including commuters, students, shoppers and anyone using the bus to attend medical and personal appointments. Balancing the needs of all of these passengers is a key challenge. The changes we will introduce in December are a direct result of feedback.
