NSW Government Calls for Expression of Interest for New Ticketing System - 29 August 2008
The NSW Government has announced progress is being made on procuring a new electronic ticketing system for Sydney, with an Expression of Interest process now open.

The Transport Data Centre (TDC) purchases statistics on employment and travel to work from the Census of Population and Housing conducted every five years by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS). TDC makes significant enhancements to this dataset to produce its own TDC Journey to Work data. This information is used to track and forecast employment location and commuting patterns over time.
Region 14 Bus Network Review - 18 August 2008
As a result of the recommendations that came out of the NSW Government's Review of Bus Services, a major review of bus services is currently being carried out in the Region 14 area of metropolitan Sydney. The local government areas that that are included in region 14 are Waringah, Ku-ring-gai, Pittwater and Willoughby.
Bus Region 2 - A New Bus Network for the Liverpool and Campbelltown Region - 8 August 2008
The Ministry of Transport and Area 2 Management Company are pleased to announce that following community consultation, a new bus services network will be introduced in Bus Contract Region 2 on 18 August 2008. This bus region covers all or part of the local government areas of Camden, Campbelltown, Liverpool and Wollondilly.

Sitting Fees for Community Members on Committees - 5 August 2008

Call for Competitive Quotations - Taxi Rank Security 2008 - 30 June 2008
The Ministry of Transport is inviting licensed security service providers to submit quotations for providing security guards on two or three nights a week at certain taxi ranks at Coogee, Cronulla, Goulburn, Kiama, Kings Cross (outside Aussie Rules Social Club), Kings Cross Railway Station, and Sutherland. The security guards are expected to provide a safe environment for intending passengers and taxi drivers.
Eligibility Criteria for Financial Assistance to Install Security Cameras in Taxis - 26 June 2008
The NSW Government will contribute up to $2000 per taxi to accredited taxi operators who can meet the eligibility criteria to assist in the purchase and installation of these cameras.
Buses Will Have Priority on CBD Roads During World Youth Day - 20 June 2008
Sydney will host World Youth Day 2008 (WYD), the largest youth event in the world, from 15-20 July 2008. The number of visitors to Sydney is expected to eclipse those that attended the Sydney 2000 Olympics, and will create additional demands on Sydney's public transport system.
Maximum Taxi Fares and Charges from 1 July 2008 - 19 June 2008
Following the annual review by the Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal (IPART), taxi fares are set to increase from Tuesday, 1 July 2008.
Community Transport Service Type Review - 18 June 2008
The Ministry of Transport has engaged Urbis Pty Ltd to conduct the Community Transport Service Type Review. The programs subject to the Review process are the HACC Community Transport Program, the NSW government funded Community Transport Program and the transport pick up projects under the Area Assistance Scheme. The Review is limited to organisations providing community transport service under these programs.

Lane Cove Bus Interchange - 11 March 2008
The Lane Cove Bus Interchange opened on Monday 10th March. The new Lane Cove Bus Interchange will enable bus users and residents of the region access to better transport alternatives and bus to bus connections.
Accessing public transport has been made easier by closely linking the buses with an overhead pedestrian bridge with lift access over Longueville Rd, making it safer and easier for customers to make their connections.

Incentive Payments for Wheelchair Accessible Taxis - Information for Drivers - 30 November 2007
The NSW Government is to undertake a six month trial of an incentive payment to wheelchair taxi drivers when they carry passengers in wheelchairs.
From 1 December 2007, drivers of Wheelchair Accessible Taxis (WATs) will be able to claim $7.70 plus GST for each wheelchair passenger carried. The trial will be funded by the Taxi Advisory Committee at no cost to passengers.
This payment is only for the driver of the WAT and is designed to improve reliability and response times for passengers, and to support WAT drivers in achieving these improvements. Further information on how the trial will operate.
The NSW Government is committed to improving wheelchair accessible taxi services and supporting WAT drivers in achieving these improvements.

Incentive Payments for Wheelchair Accessible Taxis - Information for Participants - 30 November 2007
The NSW Government is soon to trial an incentive payment for wheelchair taxi drivers.
From 1 December 2007, drivers of Wheelchair Accessible Taxis will be able to claim $8.47 for each wheelchair passenger they carry. The trial is intended to improve reliability and response times for wheelchair passengers.
This will NOT cost you any money as the incentive is not part of the TTSS fare.
Drivers are not permitted to ask you for extra money to cover the incentive payment.
A special Toll Free Telephone Number 1800 200 592 has been set up to answer any questions you may have in regard to the trial.

A Clearer Run for Buses in the CBD - 12 October 2007
The NSW Government is improving peak hour bus travel in the Sydney CBD as part of the Premier's Urban Transport Statement which was released in November 2006.
From Monday 15 October 2007, existing bus lanes on Clarence, York, George and Elizabeth Streets will operate during peak hours from 6am to 10am and 3pm to 8pm.
These changes will make bus travel in the CBD faster and less congested.

Drug and Alcohol Testing for Bus Safety Employees - Test Notification Form - 8 October 2007
Use this form to notify the Ministry of Transport of bus safety employees who test positive to a confirmatory test for drugs or alcohol or who refuse or fail to submit to drug and alcohol testing when lawfully required. Operators are required by law to notify these matters to the Ministry.

The Ministry of Transport has scheduled two additional Bus Operator Accreditation Seminars. The first will be held at the Bathurst RSL Club, 114 Rankin Street Bathurst, on Monday 10 September 2007 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. The second will be at the BCA premises, 27 Villiers St North Parramatta, on Tuesday 11 September 2007 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm.
Please fill in the Seminar Acceptance Form (33 kb PDF) and advise which of the two venues you will be attending, along with the names and contact details of the people coming. The details should be faxed or mailed to the Ministry before close of business on Wednesday 5 September 2007.
