RSS Feeds

What are RSS feeds?

RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feeds allow you to keep up-to-date with new additions to a website without having to visit the site regularly.

Depending on the browser you are using, you may be able to keep tabs on a website through your bookmarks or favourites. If your browser doesn't support RSS you may need to use special feed reader software or create an account at a news reader website.

How can I view the feeds?

You can access RSS feeds directly with the latest versions of most browsers. Find the RSS icon RSS icon. on the web page or in the browser address window or command bar and click it to view or subscribe to the feed.

If you are using an older browser like Internet Explorer 6 you will need to either use special feed reader software or create an account at a news reader website.

There are many free feed readers available and many free news reader websites. The Feed Reader page at the Open Directory website includes extensive listings.

How can I subscribe?

If you are using Internet Explorer 7+, click on the RSS icon that is either on the web page or in the browser command bar to view and subscribe to the RSS feed. When you subscribe, a listing will be created under the 'Feeds' heading of the 'Favourites Center'. You can then check this listing for updates.

If you are using Firefox 2+, click on the RSS icon that is either on the web page or in the browser address window to view and subscribe to the RSS feed. When you subscribe, an entry will be created in the Bookmarks. You can then check this bookmark for updates.
