Upcoming works across Sydney’s road network

Motorists are advised of changed traffic conditions on the Sydney Harbour Bridge from tonight for maintenance and Warringah Freeway Upgrade works.

Sydney Harbour Bridge FIFA Women’s World Cup event closure

The Sydney Harbour Bridge will close to traffic on Sunday 25 June from 4am to 10.30am for the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023™️ Sydney Harbour Bridge Unity Celebration.

The Sydney Harbour Tunnel will remain open but delays are expected so motorists are urged to allow extra time or defer travel until after 10.30am.

Trains will continue to operate across the bridge. Pedestrians and cyclists can use the Sydney Harbour Bridge footpath and cycleway during the event.

Citybound traffic from the Anzac Bridge will be diverted via the Bathurst St off-ramp and all traffic accessing the Western Distributor from Fig St and Pyrmont St will be diverted via the King St off-ramp.

Operators of freight and Oversize Overmass vehicles or vehicles carrying dangerous goods should use the Victoria Rd and Gladesville Bridge detour route.

Buses will terminate either side of the Sydney Harbour Bridge in the Sydney CBD and North Sydney from 4am to 10.30am.

Special event clearway parking restrictions will be in effect between 3am and 10.30am on key roads in North Sydney and between 6am to 10.30am in the Sydney CBD to accommodate traffic on detour routes.

Warringah Freeway Upgrade

From 10pm on Friday 23 June, the Warringah Freeway southbound traffic lanes to the Sydney Habour Bridge, between Ridge Street and High Street at North Sydney, will be shifted approximately seven metres to the west.

The southbound over height vehicle processing lane on approach to the Sydney Harbour Tunnel will also be slightly shortened (by around 40 metres).

The entry point for over height vehicles will remain the same but will be made more prominent with yellow markings and additional signage.

The temporary realignment of the southbound traffic lanes to the Sydney Harbour Bridge will not change the capacity or number of southbound traffic lanes accessing the Sydney Harbour Tunnel along the Warringah Freeway.

The temporary traffic changes are expected to be in place for around 12 months. However, motorists are not expected to experience delays due to this change.

Motorists are asked to drive with caution through the area and keep to the reduced speed limits.
