Report a pothole or damaged road

If you are aware of road damage you can report it to Transport for NSW (TfNSW) by calling 131 700 or reporting the issue online.

If the road is managed by council, TfNSW will pass the information on to the relevant council to assess the damage.

What information do we need?

When reporting damage to TfNSW, you will need to provide us with:

  • the location of the pothole/damage
  • description of the issue/damage
  • date you became aware there was damage to the road
  • a photo of the damage if available (online only)
  • your contact details if you require a response.

You can remain anonymous if you wish, but if you would like TfNSW to respond to your report you can provide your name and contact details.

If your vehicle has suffered damage as a result of the condition of a NSW public road you may be eligible to claim the repair costs. Lodge a public liability claim with TfNSW.
