The Auburn Stabling project involves the construction of a new train stabling facility, north-west of Auburn Station. The project is designed to cater for the expected increase in train services in Sydney’s inner-west and south-west.
The project will be delivered in two stages. Stage one of the project includes the construction of a stabling facility to accommodate up to 11 eight-car trains, staff amenities and offices, a noise mitigation barrier, and associated civil and rail systems work. The majority of stage one works to be delivered by Transport Projects will commence later this year.
Stage two (including construction of stabling for an additional five eight-car trains) will be delivered when required to meet future demand.

Project status
The project has been approved under Part 5 of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979. The approval follows the public display of the project’s Review of Environmental Factors (REF) in late 2010, consultation with the community and consideration of submissions received. Currently site investigations and detailed design work is underway with major construction commencing in mid 2012.
The Preferred Activity Report (PAR) which responds to the issues raised in submissions and details the modifications made to the project since the REF as well as the project’s Conditions of Approval are available to download.
