Road Network Corridor Planning

Reviewed

Project overview

Road Network and Corridor Planning is the integrated management of roads in NSW for the benefit of all communities and transport users.

Key benefits

  • Keeps regional and state-wide roads moving and evolving consistently, now and in future
  • Helps meet community and industry expectations on budget, on time and on target
  • Plans for the whole state as a connected infrastructure and targets local priorities

Road Network and Corridor Planning is a better way of coordinating work on our large and complex NSW road transport infrastructure.

There are currently 10 strategic projects in the Road Network and Corridor Planning program, detailed in the table below. Together with Roads and Maritime, we have developed the program to provide a consistent approach to these strategies for every State-operated road in NSW.

Taking this approach, we can address current and future transport needs and challenges with key road users in mind. This means we analyse and plan for road corridor usage, including how roads and the land around them might be used differently in future.

The program also ensures transparency for communities, councils and other government agencies interested in how investment is allocated and what priorities we set.

Reviewed every five years, Road Network and Corridor Planning strategies tie state wide and regional plans together, so that we can integrate transport planning and create priorities better suited to their local areas.

New projects like road safety upgrades, and traffic and asset maintenance are easier to incorporate into this uniform planning, management and operational approach.

To ensure this consistent approach across all transport, our planning aligns with:

Road Network and Corridor Planning project feedback

Because we aim to meet the needs of road users where possible, we value your feedback on projects in the consultation phase. If you use a car, truck, motorcycle, bicycle, or you are a pedestrian on State-run roads in NSW, we need to hear from you. Have we set the right priorities, and have we met community expectations?
