Hawkesbury River Railway Bridge Maintenance

Sydney Trains is carrying out maintenance work of the Hawkesbury River Bridge to improve safety and protect the steel structure from weathering.

Key Benefits

  • Installation of new walkways to each side of the bridge for bridge inspection and maintenance.
  • Relocation of existing electrical services to the underside of the new walkways
  • Installation of new mobile maintenance platform under the bridge and removal of the existing maintenance platform.
  • Removal of lead-based paint and repainting of the bridge structure. 

The project is currently in construction and expected to be completed in 2034.* 

 

Project Status

Maintenance work on Hawkesbury River Bridge is underway. 

Work will take place from 7am to 6pm, Monday to Friday and 8am to 1pm on Saturdays.

Equipment may be delivered to the worksite outside the above times. Some deliveries may occur at night due to daytime travel restrictions on large vehicles. Finishing works may take place following this period, including the removal of equipment.
