Lithgow Area Resignalling (Stage 2)

Project overview

Sydney Trains is upgrading the Newnes Junction to Bowenfels signalling with a new computer-based interlocking system.

The new infrastructure will be built so that existing passenger and freight services through the area can continue to operate.

Project Status

Works will commence in March 2024 and take up to three years to complete. Construction work will take place outside rail possessions where safe and practical to do so, and during planned possessions. 

Standard construction hours are from 7am to 6pm Monday to Friday and 8am to 1pm on Saturdays.
