Sydney Terminal Area Reconfiguration Project

The program is designed to simplify and modernise the rail network. Passengers will be able to access more services on a simpler and more reliable network through the delivery of better infrastructure, new trains and extra services.

Project scope

Central Station

  • extending platforms 9, 10, 11, 12, 13 and 14
  • upgrading railway tracks and overhead wiring
  • relocating underground utilities, drainage and signals 
  • removing redundant track infrastructure. 

Sydney Terminal to Erskineville Junction

  • upgrading overhead wiring, signalling and electrical assets 
  • upgrading drainage in the rail corridor at Eveleigh to prevent flooding and improve reliability.
