Victoria Road - Lyons Road citybound bus priority improvements

Project information

Introduction

Transport for NSW is taking key steps to improve bus services along the Victoria Road corridor for trips towards the city. Transport will be installing a citybound bus lane on Lyons Road between Bayswater Street and Marlborough Street in Drummoyne to improve bus priority and journey times for public transport users accessing Victoria Road in peak periods.

The bus lane is operational 6am to 10am and 3pm to 7pm, Monday to Friday.

Additionally, a new left turn only (buses excepted) lane into Bayswater Street from Lyons Road accommodates traffic turning west onto Victoria Road and improves traffic flow in the area.

Bus priority measures are consistent with the future vision for the Victoria Road corridor.

These improvements will help improve traffic flow in the area, make citybound bus services more reliable and efficient and encourage more people to use public transport.

Features

The new bus lane is operational 6am to 10am and 3pm to 7pm Monday to Friday.

Buses, taxis, hire cars, bicycles, emergency vehicles and motorcycles are permitted to travel in a bus lane.

The left turn only (buses excepted) lane into Bayswater Street from Lyons Road is operational 24 hours and will accommodate traffic turning west onto Victoria Road.

Work is scheduled between 23 November and 31 January 2024.
