Sydney Clearways Strategy

On 1 December 2013, the Minister for Roads and Ports announced the Sydney Clearways Strategy, which outlines how we can get more out of our roads by introducing new or extended clearways on roads that do not perform to the community’s expectations.

The Strategy sets out criteria for identifying potential clearways, a process for engaging with local stakeholders and for providing alternative parking to minimise impacts on local businesses and residents.

As a starting point, the Strategy identifies five priority routes for consultation. RMS is working with residents, businesses and councils to ensure that adequate parking continues to be available. A $21 million fund for local councils has been established to help identify alternative parking to support businesses on affected roads.

The Strategy seeks community feedback on the proposed approach and where new or extended clearways should be considered.
