Sustainable Design Competition

The 2018 Transport for NSW Sustainable Design Competition provides students with an opportunity to showcase their skills and ability in a real location, by applying innovation, vision and some blue-sky thinking to a scenario only challenge.  The challenge requires students to provide an innovative, sustainable and functional design solution for a new integrated terminus precinct located at Westmead that could be built as part of the Parramatta Light Rail Project Stage 1: www.parramattalightrail.nsw.gov.au

The competition is open to final-year year students in architecture, landscape architecture, urban design and planning, the built environment and other similar disciplines where capability meets with the required challenge and assessment criteria.

As design work is already underway on this element of the project, it is not expected that any designs will be used for the final Parramatta Light Rail Stage 1 Project; rather it is a platform for students to showcase their talent, skills and ability in sustainable design.

The total prize fund available to the winning teams, to be split equally between each team member, or individuals is as follows:

1st Place $4,500
2nd Place $2,750

In addition, the winning design will be invited to complete a 2-week work experience period at TfNSW as part of the Parramatta Light Rail Stage 1 team.
