State Transit appoints its first female CEO

For the first time in State Transit's proud 87-year history a female has been appointed Chief Executive Officer.

Daniela Fontana takes the top job after moving from the role of Executive Director of Customer Operations. In her former role, Daniela was charged with ensuring the smooth running of the entire State Transit bus network.

Daniela has a long history in the bus industry that includes two stints at State Transit. She started her career at Westbus and was there for 15 years before moving to State Transit. After seven years at State Transit in roles including depot manager at Leichhardt Depot, Daniela headed to QANTAS where she was promoted to Domestic Airport Customer Experience Manager.

She returned to the State Transit family in 2018 and became part of the Executive Team. She started in the CEO role on 15 June 2020.
