Power of Public Spaces

The Power of Public Spaces project is a collaboration between Cities Revitalisation and Place and the School of Social Sciences, Macquarie University, who were successful in receiving an Australian Research Council Linkage Grant. This exciting NSW Government-University collaboration brings together leading thinkers and practitioners. It asks how we might care for public spaces and how they care for us.

The Power of Public Spaces project will be supported by events and activities focusing on telling stories, sharing ideas and modelling new ways of collaborating across Government, academic and community sectors. A speaker series will take place over the coming year.

By gathering evidence – examples, case studies, stories and engagement with the community – we will invite conversation on how the public spaces in our cities are used, loved and valued, and how citizens can shape its future.

The Power of Public Spaces will capture and weave together existing research and the core principles of the NSW Public Spaces Charter and the Great Places Toolkit.
