A step closer to easing congestion on Wilde Avenue at Parramatta
1 May 2020
Plans are progressing to ease congestion in Parramatta at the busy intersection of Wilde Avenue and Victoria Road with the community engagement report now available online.
Member for Parramatta, Dr Geoff Lee said Transport for NSW has consulted the community to ensure the project delivers benefits for people travelling through the intersection.
"This upgrade will help reduce delays for motorists and bus passengers by providing a new dedicated right turn bus lane on Wilde Avenue into Victoria Road," Dr Lee said.
"Work is due to start by mid-year and is expected to take nine months to complete.
"During peak periods more than 85 buses per hour travel through the intersection on 17 bus routes which connect Parramatta CBD to north-west Sydney, Macquarie Park and Sydney CBD.
"The northbound lanes on Wilde Avenue can quickly become congested, so the planned improvements will keep traffic flowing through the intersection and improve travel time reliability for buses.
"There will also be improved pedestrian facilities, including realigning the existing footpath along the eastern side of the intersection."
Transport for NSW thanks the community for providing feedback during the consultation period. The community will be kept updated as the project progresses.
