A step closer to easing congestion through Kingsgrove

Plans to ease congestion for motorists and bus passengers at the busy intersection of Stoney Creek and Kingsgrove roads are progressing with the Engagement Report now available.
A Transport for NSW spokesperson said “this upgrade will help reduce delays for motorists and bus passengers by providing a new dedicated left turn lane on Stoney Creek Road into Kingsgrove Road between Croydon Road and Kingsgrove Road.
“Work is expected to start by the end of the year or early 2021 and take six months to complete,” the spokesperson said.
“During peak periods there are more than 3,400 vehicles per hour travelling through the intersection, including up to 40 buses on key routes such as the 410 between Hurstville and Macquarie Park as well as the 490 and 492 services.
“The eastbound left lane on Stoney Creek Road can quickly become congested, so the planned improvements will provide benefits by keeping traffic flowing through the intersection and improving travel time reliability for buses.
“There will also be improved pedestrian facilities, including realigning the existing footpath along the northern side of the intersection.”
Transport for NSW thanks the community for providing feedback during the consultation period. The community will be kept updated as the project progresses.
