Changed traffic conditions on the Sydney Harbour Bridge

Published
Motorists are advised of changed traffic conditions on Sydney Harbour Bridge this week.

The Sydney Harbour Bridge will close in both directions on Sunday 22 January from 3am to 10am to facilitate filming for the new Ryan Gosling film, The Fall Guy, while the Sydney Harbour Tunnel will remain open while filming is underway.

Trains will continue to operate across the bridge while it is closed to vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists.

Cahill Expressway over Circular Quay will also be closed in both directions from 1am to 12:30pm, for filming.

On the following dates, up to five traffic lanes on the Sydney Harbour Bridge deck will be closed as maintenance work and work on the Warringah Freeway upgrade is carried out.

  • Friday 20 January – 11pm to 6am
  • Sunday 22 January – 9pm to 4.30am
  • Monday 23 January – 9pm to 4.30am
  • Tuesday 24 January – 9pm to 4.30am
  • Wednesday 25 January – 10pm to 2am

From Sunday 22 to Wednesday 25 January, the Cahill Expressway will also be closed northbound between Conservatorium Road and Upper Fort Street from 10pm to 4am for maintenance works.

On Thursday 26 January, up to three lanes (including the Cahill Expressway southbound) will be closed from 7.30pm - 10.30pm for Australia Day celebrations.

Motorists are reminded changed traffic conditions are set to be introduced at the intersection of City West Link and Victoria Road in Rozelle on 21 January.

To access the CBD, motorists will use the left lanes to continue through the underpass towards the Anzac Bridge, while motorists will need to be in the middle lanes to access Victoria Road.

Traffic controls and reduced speed limits will be in place for the safety of workers and road users.

Motorists are advised to drive to the conditions and follow the directions of signs and traffic controllers.

Commuters travelling to the airport this weekend are advised to plan ahead as Sydney Trains carries out essential maintenance work on the network.

From 10pm Saturday 21 January to 6am Sunday 22 January, buses replace trains between Bankstown and Central on the T3 Bankstown line.

On the T4 Eastern Suburbs and Illawarra line, from 2am Saturday 21 January to 2am Monday 23 January, buses will replace trains between Cronulla, Waterfall and Central, which will affect how customers travel on the T8 Airport & South line.

While some replacement buses will be available, these will be limited so commuters need to plan ahead and leave plenty of extra travel time.

In addition, early next week, from 9.30pm to 1.30am Monday 23 January to Wednesday 25 January, buses replace trains in both directions from Central to Hornsby on the T1 North Shore.
