Changed traffic conditions on the Sydney Harbour Bridge for maintenance work

Motorists are advised of changed traffic conditions on Sydney Harbour Bridge this week as maintenance is carried out overnight.

Four lanes on the bridge will be closed overnight this week for maintenance work to be carried out on the Sydney Harbour Bridge deck.

The closures will be carried out as below:

  • Friday 2 December – 11.30pm to 6am (Lanes 5,6,7), 11pm to 11am (Lane 4)
  • Saturday 3 December – 11.30pm to 7am (Lanes 6,7,8)
  • Sunday 4 December – 11pm to 4.30am (Lanes 6,7,8)
  • Monday 5 December – 11pm to 4.30am (Lanes 6,7,8), 10pm to 4:30am (Lane 4)
  • Tuesday 6 December - 11pm to 4.30am (Lanes 6,7,8), 10pm to 4:30am (Lane 4)
  • Wednesday 7 December - 9pm to 1am (Lanes 7,8), 10pm to 4:30am (Lane 4)

Access from Western Distributor, Kent St and Clarence St will be maintained throughout these closures. The Sydney Harbour Tunnel will also remain open.

The Warringah Freeway Ernest Street northbound off ramp will also be closed from midnight Friday 2 December to 11am Saturday 3 December. Motorists can use alternative exits at Falcon Street or Miller Street.

The Cahill Expressway will be closed between Macquarie Street and Upper Fort Street for road upgrade works to be carried out.

The closures will be carried out as below:

  • Tuesday 6 December – 11.30pm to 5am
  • Wednesday 7 December – 11.30pm to 5am

Motorists can detour via the Sydney Harbour Tunnel or via Macquarie St, Bridge St and Grosvenor St to access Sydney Harbour Bridge.

The Sydney Harbour Tunnel will be closed Thursday 8 December from 11pm to 5am for scheduled maintenance work. No work on the Sydney Harbour Bridge will be carried out during this time.

Traffic controls and reduced speed limits will be in place for the safety of workers and road users.

Motorists are advised to drive to the conditions and follow the directions of signs and traffic controllers.
