Motorists are advised of changed traffic conditions on Sydney Harbour Bridge and Sydney Harbour Tunnel this week.

Up to four traffic lanes on the Sydney Harbour Bridge deck will be closed as maintenance work to the bridge deck and upgrade work to the rail deck is carried out.

Closures on the bridge are outlined below:

  • Sunday 15 January – 9pm to 4.30am
  • Monday 16 January – 9pm to 4.30am
  • Tuesday 17 January – 9pm to 4.30am
  • Wednesday 18 January – 9pm to 4.30am
  • Thursday 19 January – 9.30pm to 4.30am

Mobile maintenance work will also be carried out in the Sydney Harbour Tunnel between 9pm and 5am from Tuesday 17 to Thursday 19 January. However, only sections of the lanes will be closed to motorists under mobile works.

The Cahill Expressway northbound between Macquarie Street, Circular Quay and the Bradfield Highway, Millers Point will be also closed from 8pm to 5am on the 16 January. Southbound lanes will remain open.

Pedestrian and cyclist access to the Cahill Expressway walkway will not be affected by the work.

Traffic controls and reduced speed limits will be in place for the safety of workers and road users.

Motorists are advised to drive to the conditions and follow the directions of signs and traffic controllers.

Commuters are also reminded to plan ahead this weekend as Sydney Trains carries out essential maintenance work on the network.

Bus services will replace trains between Hornsby and Wynyard in both directions on the T1 North Shore line from 2am Saturday 14 January to 2am Monday 16 January.

At the same time, bus services will replace trains between Macarthur, Glenfield, and Fairfield, affecting the T1 Western, T2 Inner West & Leppington, T5 Cumberland and T8 Airport & South lines. Bus services will also replace trains between Liverpool and Bankstown on the T3 Bankstown line.
