Community invited to share feedback on traffic changes proposed for Griffiths Road at Lambton
Lambton residents are being invited to have their say on a proposal for the installation of a zip merge and a limited no stopping zone along Griffiths Road, east of the Lambton Road intersection.
Transport for NSW Acting Regional Director North Tiffany Jeffery said the proposed changes aim to improve safety and traffic efficiency for the left lane slip movement along this strip of road.
“Providing a zip merge allows for an efficient and safe way for motorists using the left turn slip lane out of Lambton Road to accelerate and merge with other eastbound motorists traveling along Griffiths Road,” Ms Jeffery said.
“A zip merge happens when the number of lanes on a road are reduced and as there are no longer any road markings, motorists must give way to the vehicle in front.”
Ms Jeffery said a limited no stopping zone is also proposed to increase safety and traffic efficiency, resulting in the loss of 13 parking spaces on Griffiths Road.
“As part of this proposal, the existing bus stop would be relocated about 40 metres east of its current location, allowing for up to seven car spaces to be provided where the bus stop is currently located,” Ms Jeffery said.
“We want to hear from the community about the proposed changes to ensure the best outcome for motorists and residents.”
People are encouraged to send their feedback via email to Transport for NSW’s Associate Community & Safety Partner, Nicholas.trajcevski@transport.nsw.gov.au. Community consultation will close on Thursday 5 October.
