Construction to begin on next major wharf upgrade at Meadowbank
Member for Ryde, Victor Dominello, today announced work is set to start next month on the Meadowbank Wharf and interchange upgrade to improve access to ferry services between Parramatta and Sydney CBD.
“Ferry customers will benefit from a major upgrade of the Meadowbank Wharf and interchange, with work commencing on Thursday 3 December and expected to take about five months to complete," Victor Dominello said.
“The upgrade will mean customers will have better protection from the wind, rain and sun, improved seating and waiting areas, increased accessibility for mobility impaired customers and more efficient ferry boarding and disembarking.
“Ferry services will continue to operate to the wharf but brief closures may be required. Transport for NSW will provide customers with advance warning of any service changes.
“At times when ferries are not operating to Meadowbank, we will still have other public transport options available. Customers are advised to plan their trip in advance by visiting transportnsw.info or by calling 131 500.
“Building activities visible from the water will include site installation, piling work and installation of the gangway and floating pontoon.
“Local residents are advised that the noisiest piling work will be limited to between 5am and 7am with standard work to continue on weekdays between 7am and 6pm and 8am to 1pm on Saturdays," Victor Dominello said.
The upgraded wharf and interchange at Meadowbank is part of the NSW Government’s commitment to deliver $100 million in improvements along the Parramatta River, including new ferry vessels, extra services as well as new and upgraded wharves.
Ferry customers have already benefitted from recent wharf upgrades completed across the harbour including Pyrmont Bay, Mosman Bay, Drummoyne, Cremorne Point, Sydney Olympic Park and Balmain East.
