Have your say on Newell Highway intersection upgrade at Narrabri

The Narrabri community is invited to have a say this month on proposed improvements at the Tibbereena and Barwan Street intersections on the Newell Highway.

Member for Barwon Kevin Humphries said the NSW Government is improving safety and heavy vehicle capacity at the intersections as part of its commitment to providing easier, faster and safer journeys for all road users.

“The proposed upgrade at Tibbereena Street includes relocating the concrete median and re-aligning and widening the road to reduce congestion on the Newell Highway and local roads,” Mr Humphries said.

“Plans for the Barwan Street intersection include removing the existing roundabout and creating a curve on the Newell Highway. This will include no right turns into Barwan Street while traffic heading north will give way to the Newell Highway.

“Community members will be able to view the concept designs and speak with the project team at two drop in sessions on Thursday 8 November.”

The first drop in session will be held from 11.30am to 2.30pm at the Narrabri Community Kiosk, at 104 Maitland Street and the second drop in session will be held from 4.30pm to 6.30pm at the front of Narrabri Woolworths at 181 Maitland Street.

The concept designs will also be available to view at Narrabri Shire Council’s Administration Building at 46-48 Maitland Street.

Feedback can be provided to Roads and Maritime on 1800 167 499 or western.projects@rms.nsw.gov.au until Friday 7 December.
