Lawrence Hargrave Drive to reopen this Sunday

Transport for NSW will complete slope repairs on Lawrence Hargrave Drive at Stanwell Park and reopen the road on schedule this weekend.

Member for Heathcote Lee Evans said the stretch of road between Lady Wakehurst Drive and Chellow Dene Avenue would be open by 7pm on Sunday 9 August.

“This essential work has required this section of Lawrence Hargrave Drive to be closed in both directions for eight weeks, which has had a significant impact on the local community – but it has been worth it,” Mr Evans said.

“All drilling and soil nail installation has been completed and a 29 metre-long concrete retaining wall has been built at the highest risk site to stabilise and strengthen the slope.

“Seven sites have been completed while work including revegetating slopes, installing drainage, meshing and shotcreting is nearly done at the final three sites.

“This work is essential to keep this road safe and open in the long term, providing an important connection for the local community.”

Additional transport services - including extra stops on existing train services, the Stanwell Park shuttle bus and changes to school bus services - will finish once the road has reopened, with school and train services returning to normal timetables and routes from Monday 10 August.

Detours will remain in place via Bulli Pass (Princes Highway) and the M1 Princes Motorway until the road reopens.

Electronic message boards advertising the road closure will be updated to alert motorists after the road is open.

Transport for NSW thanks the community for their patience and apologises for any inconvenience during this essential work.
