New contractor to complete upgrades on the Princes Highway in Sutherland Shire

Transport for NSW has appointed a new contractor to complete the Acacia Road, Oak Road, Kingsway and President Avenue upgrades along the Princes Highway at Kirrawee.
A Transport for NSW spokesperson said Burton Contractors Pty Ltd will start work on the upgrades this month, with the priority to fast-track work that resolves issues directly impacting residents and businesses along the corridor.
“Transport for NSW looks forward to welcoming Burton Contractors to the project to continue carrying out the upgrades along the Princes Highway,” the spokesperson said.
“We know the community has been impacted by disruptions to the project so we will be working together closely to see the project completed by the end of the year.”
The spokesperson said as a matter of priority, Transport for NSW carried out work over the past month in areas affecting local residents.
“We have completed storm water drainage work at the Bath Road and Princes Highway intersection and started work on car parking bays along the service road,” the spokesperson said.
“Footpath work on the Princes Highway as well as road, kerb and gutter work along the service road retaining wall has also been carried out.
“The remaining work involves upgrading traffic signals, completing road widening between Auburn Road and Kingsway, median upgrades, storm water, kerb, gutter and footpath work, as well as landscaping and installing new signage.”
Following the completion of the upgrade, motorists will experience improved traffic flow and travel times, and safer journeys particularly during peak periods.
Burton Contractors will be on site from Monday 15 March carrying out work between Auburn Road and Kingsway from 7am to 6pm Monday to Friday and 8am to 1pm Saturdays, weather permitting.
