The $450 million Berry to Bomaderry upgrade is a step closer to completion with a new section of the highway now open to traffic.

Minister for Regional Transport and Roads Paul Toole said the opening of the southbound section of highway between Abernethys Lane and Cambewarra Road will improve safety for the 10,000 motorists who travel the Princes Highway every day.

“The Berry to Bomaderry upgrade will improve journeys along the South Coast and particularly safety for motorists when the new four lane highway is complete,” Mr Toole said.

“Every step towards the completion of this project is a huge win for the community and we’re going to keep powering ahead with this critical upgrade.

“All southbound traffic has now been diverted onto the new road with work continuing as quickly as possible to complete the remaining upgrades of the highway.

“Work will also be carried out in coming months just north of the Cambewarra and Moss Vale Road intersection to improve pedestrian access.”
