Safety measures removing right hand turns to roll out on Berry to Bomaderry upgr
17 October 2019
Right turn restrictions will be introduced at a number of intersections through the Berry to Bomaderry upgrade from next month.
A Transport for NSW spokesperson said these restrictions are a vital piece of the $450 million project, which is the final piece of more than 30 kilometres of highway upgraded between Gerringong and Bomaderry since 2012.
“The upgrade will improve safety, increase road capacity, improve traffic flow and deliver more reliable journeys on this section of highway,” the spokesperson said.
“No Right Turn signs will be installed along the Princes Highway at the intersections of O’Keeffes and Abernethys lanes, and Jaspers Brush Road, where no dedicated right hand turn bays exist, from Friday 1 November.”
“These restrictions will help reduce rear-end crashes and provide a safe, more efficient journey for motorists as work continues.”
Motorists will be required to travel to the next side road with a dedicated right-hand turn lane where, once in the side road, they can then safely make a u-turn and re-join the highway to travel back to their destination.
